FB Messenger now allows non-Facebook users

Facebook Messenger for Android now allows use of Facebook Messenger without needing a Facebook account. You don’t need an e-mail id even. Anyone can register with a name and phone number.
This update will initially be available in a limited set of countries including India, Australia, Indonesia, Venezuela, and South Africa and will soon be available in other countries. Facebook has announced it has partnered with all major carriers and device manufacturers in India for Facebook Messenger.

Facebook Messenger will now be competing with WhatsApp Messenger that has already become very famous and is estimated to have 100 Million users. With the SMS era dying, use of internet for messaging has helped WhatsApp bloom with no other messenger service available till now. Now with this Facebook Messenger update we can expect data plans for FB messenger similar to the one offered by RCom for WhatsApp messenger for just Rs.16/month.
